DIY Sugar Scrubs for your whole body

Sugar up and feel silky smooth

As the winter months tend to make the air around us drier, our skin naturally becomes drier as well. Sugar scrubs are a great way to exfoliate and moisturize your whole body in the shower. The simple process to create these little gems make it truly worthwhile compared to the little prep time it takes. Get creative and get silky. Here is a trick for portioning: use an ice cube tray. I have found it quite useful to use an ice tray to create sizable portions for one-time uses.

What you’ll need:

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (or other oil of choice)

  • 1/2 cup of unscented soap, shredded

  • 1 cup of sugar (raw, white or brown)

  • Optional add-ins for scent

  • Mixing bowl & spoon

  • Optional: A mold like an ice cube tray or other freezable mold

Now, let’s get to work:

  • Mix the oil and shredded soap together in a microwave safe bowl.

  • Microwave on high for 10 second intervals, stirring in between each. Continue until the soap has melted into the oil.

  • Add in sugar

  • Add in scents like lemongrass, lavender, vanilla essential oil or leave natural

  • Stir mixture evenly

  • Spoon into glass jar or into a mold and let it firm up. Placing the mold into freezer is a great option (don’t freeze glass :)

Enjoy :)
